Graduate Students

I am looking for motivated Ph.D. / M.S. students to join my research group. The successful candidates have the room to develop research projects on air pollution and greenhouse gases using atmospheric chemistry models, satellite observations, statistical methods, and machine learning. Students can join our group either through the Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences or the Center for Geospatial Analytics. The 2025 Fall admission deadline is Jan 31, 2025. Please email me your CV, transcript, and research interests before submitting an application. Note that GRE scores are not required.

Atmospheric Chemistry and Data Science Research

NC State is a great place for atmospheric chemistry and data science research. The department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is one of the largest interdisciplinary geoscience departments. Students will also have opportunities to get involved in our ongoing collaborations with the Department of Statistics and the Department of Computer Science at NC State. Students can also take classes and work with scholars from Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill within the Research Triangle Park (RTP). RTP also has many career-related resources, e.g., the US EPA RTP campus, the Research Triangle Institute, and environmental engineering firms.

Life in Raleigh

NC State is located in Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina. Raleigh is a hub for cultural attractions in North Carolina, with several state-of-the-art performance venues, museums, and art galleries. Here you will find a vibrant, eclectic mix of people from all over the US and the world. In addition, it is easy to access to nature — the Atlantic Ocean is two hours to the east, and the Blue Ridge Mountains are 3.5 hours to the west.
